Hall of Fame
Dave McLeish was the fifth individual to be named as the men's soccer coach at Southern California College/Vanguard University. From 1987 through the conclusion of the 2001 season, McLeish built the program into a contender that still regularly competes for conference championships.
In his first season, McLeish took a team that had gone 0-5 in conference play and reversed direction by finishing 5-1-1, second in the Golden State Athletic Conference. His teams finished second two more times, in the 1989 season (6-12-1, 5-1) and the 2000 season (10-5-1, 7-1-1). He finished in the top half of the GSAC standings nine times and helped the Lions reach the postseason for the first time in known program history in 2000. He would win 10 games in four seasons (1993, 1995, 1999, & 2000) and would get his 100th win against Biola in a 2-1 victory on October 2, 1999. He was named the 1990 National Soccer Coaches Association College Division Coach of the Year for the Far-West Region.
He would leave after the 2001 season, with the program moving from one eventual HOF member to another, as Randy Dodge would take over for McLeish after playing for him.
McLeish would end his career at SCC/VU with a 121-144-12 record and a GSAC record of 64-65-7. His foundation would make the VU men's soccer program the success entity it is today.
