The 1958 and 1959 football teams at Southern California College left a lasting offensive legacy that is staggering to think of. The team went 12-1 over those two years, with the lone loss coming against Y.R.C.A. in 1958 (23-12). Outside of that lone blemish, the squad was unstoppable. Â
The 1958 campaign opened with a 54-13 win against L.I.F.E. and then a 98-13 drubbing of California Baptist Seminary that stands as the know school record for points scored in a single game. After the loss to Y.R.C.A., the team won the S4 Conference Championship 56-51. The final three games of the year saw a 62-26 beat down of CBS again and a 56-23 revenge win over Y.R.C.A.Â
SCC opened the 1959 season with three shutouts against B.C.C. (82-0), L.I.F.E (46-0), and Azusa Pacific College (42-0). Though L.I.F.E. figured something out offensively for the rematch later in the season to score six points, SCC was still firing at full speed in a 70-6 victory. The Deacons beat Seal Beach 52-0 and concluded the season with a 78-28 victory over APC.Â
While the true depth of this offensive outpouring will never be fully known because of little to no statistical data, the records show that for two years, SCC football was a dominant force in the region.
