DENTON, Texas -- Vanguard STUNT ran its win streak up to five in a row today by defeating Drury and University Texas Tyler. VU won 20-0 against Drury and 23-0 over UT Tyler, which makes it four-straight shutouts for the Blue and Gold. The Lions are now 5-1 on the season.
What Happened? The Lions and the Drury Panthers met in the first contest of the day and while VU did not give up a point, the Panthers were good enough to force a few of the routines to not be scored for either side. Vanguard had three points in the first quarter of partner stunts and gathered the same amount in the second frame of pyramids and tosses. Ahead 6-0 at halftime, VU owned the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, as the Lions picked up all four points to take a 10-0 advantage into the final frame. In the merged routines of the fourth period, the Lions missed out on a couple of points, taking 10 of a possible 12 tallies to grab a 20-10 win to start the day.
Tenley Romberger was the highest-rated player for the Blue and Gold with 52 points.

Melina Torres was the tumbler of the game.
Against the Patriots of UT Tyler, the Blue and Gold were almost perfect, dropping only one point in the first period. The squad had four points in each of the second and third quarters to leap ahead 11-0 entering the fourth quarter. The Lions swept the final frame, securing all 12 points for the 23-0 victory.
