IRVINE, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT took on CUI tonight on the road in the final game before the West Tournament, and the Golden Eagles prevailed 28-12.  CUI improved to 9-6, while VU dropped to 9-11.

What Happened?  Vanguard started out strong in the first period of partner stunts, as the squad scored on the first routine of the game.  However, the Golden Eagles scored four points over the next three performances to hold a 4-2 edge after one quarter.  The second period of pyramids and tosses proved tough for VU, as the Lions put up one point to CUI's four, as the hosts entered halftime ahead 8-3.  On the other side of the break, the Lions responded with five points in jumps and tumbling, but the Golden Eagles were also awarded a matching five points to lead 13-8 entering the fourth frame of the combined routines.  Concordia had a better closing stanza, as CUI put up 15 points compared to four for Vanguard to secure the victory.

What's Next?  Vanguard hits the road to Fresno for the West Tournament this weekend with games against Jessup and Northwest Nazarene on Friday.
