COSTA MESA -- Vanguard Track and Field had plenty of success in 2026, and the program has officially updated the record books, unless
Kaylee Best can further improve her marks in the long and triple jumps later this week. You can the updated record books using the links in blue.
In addition, the team also held its annual banquet to close the season before graduation, and handed out its own yearly awards. Best and
Ommar Arroyo were named as the team's Athletes of the Year, while
Haley Svendsen and
Andre Hackett were picked as the Newcomers of the Year.
The women had two winners for the Most Improved award, which were
Briana Martin and
Hailey Quiroz, while Arroyo got his second accolade of the event on the men's side.
Madyson Nakamura's third-place finish at the Pacific West Championships and
Isaiah Feaver's 800m run at the Championships were honored as the performances of the year, and
Haley Butenschoen and
Joab Vela were the Champions of Character in 2026.
The Most Inspirational award went to
Megan Charley and
Donovan Ralls, while
Mary Sawczuk and
Jesse O'Campo were named the winners of the Work Ethic award.
Andrea Espinoza Noriega and
Brandon Pereira were announced as the 2026 Lion Award honorees. You can find the team's full list of winners
