LONG BEACH, Calif. -- After getting the first Pacific West Conference Field Athlete of the Week in program history a short time ago, VU Track and Field now has its initial Track Athlete of the Week, as Ommar Arroyo was announced as the sole men's winner today.  The PacWest honor was bestowed upon Arroyo after his performance in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on Saturday, as he took the top spot on the podium with a 9:26.68.  Not only the top mark in the conference as of now, his time landed as the fifth-fastest time in Vanguard history.  The squad has a split day at both the Bryan Clay Invite (APU) and the Beach Invitational (Long Beach State) this weekend before the PacWest Championships start on April 23, where Arroyo will hope to replicate his performance.
