MOORPARK, Calif. -- With an event slate that had slimmed Vanguard Track & Field to a smaller travel roster, the weather further diminished the group that competed at the Moorpark Open on Friday. The winds carried over 40 miles per hour on the day, which dashed the hopes of most of the athletes for any visible improvement on season marks. Despite that, a group did brave the elements, with
Jesse O'Campo placing 34th in the 800m race with a time of 2:07.71. His counterpart on the women's side,
Isabella Sword, had the best result for VU on the day on the track with a sixth-place finish in a time of 2:28.81.
Macey Thomas ended 20th in the 1,500m event, clocking a time of 5:26.83.
Blake Bazaldua was the only field athlete to compete, and he placed fifth in the discus (38.66m, 126', 10") and 10th in the hammer throw (39.57m, 129', 10").
What's Next? The Blue and Gold are at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on April 11.
