ROCKLIN, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT took on a new program, Fresno Pacific, tonight to begin the Jessup Tournament, which runs the next three days. VU took down FPU 27-15 to begin the event and improve to 4-5 on the year, while the Sunbirds dropped to 3-4.
What Happened? The Lions came out of the first quarter of partner stunts with a 3-2 edge, but the Sunbirds slowly leveled the score during the second quarter of pyramids and tosses. FPU outscored VU 4-3 as the frame progressed, knotting the contest at 6-6 at the break. The two squads again exchanged equal blows during the third interval of jumps and tumbling, as each side scored four points. With the score locked at 10-all, the Blue and Gold put things away in the fourth period of the combined routines, taking the last stanza 17-5 to end the squad's losing streak.
What's Next? The Lions play Kentucky and Jessup tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
