FULLERTON, Calif. -- It was a nearby rivalry night for Vanguard STUNT as the Lions faced the Hope International Royals on Monday night. VU did its best to topple one of the top programs in the NAIA, but HIU won 24-3, dropping VU to 8-11. Â
What Happened? The Royals came out firing with levels seven and eight in the first quarter of partner stunts, scoring in both and putting up five points to the Vanguard's one to lead 5-1 after one. Quarter two of pyramids and tosses followed the exact same story. as Hope called higher levels acts and scored in all routines, putting the home side up 10-2 at the break. The Royals then pushed the gap to 14-2 over the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, while the Lions mustered one point during the fourth frame of the combined routines.
What's Next? VU has senior day and a pair of matches starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Freed Center on March 28.
