Lions Tussle With Bison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- It was a close match for Vanguard University STUNT Friday against the top-ranked Bison of Oklahoma Baptist.  The two sides were rarely beyond two points of each other, but the Bison's effort in the first quarter proved to be the difference, as VU fell 17-15.  The Lions move to the bottom portion of the 2025 STUNT DII Division National Tournament bracket and will face Dallas Baptist tomorrow in a win-or-go-home game.  The Bison are now 12-1 and VU is 7-12.

What Happened?  The Lions were mostly undone in the opening period of partner stunts, as the Bison took the frame 3-1.  The Blue and Gold out-dueled Oklahoma Baptist 4-3 in a point-filled second quarter of pyramids and tosses, which put VU down 6-5 at the break.  In a rare occurrence, the Lions were outscored in jumps and tumbling, as OKBU took the third 3-2 to increase the team's lead to 9-7.  The fourth quarter of the long routines was a back-and-forth affair, with no side really establishing dominance.  The two teams ended with eight points apiece, as the Bison won 17-15.

Dallas Baptist lost to second-ranked Davenport 15-3 in the Patriots' second game of the tournament, but beat Ashland (Ohio) 15-7 to advance to tomorrow.  If Vanguard wins, the team would play either Davenport or CUI at 2:15 p.m. Pacific Time tomorrow.

What was Said?  "We are taking on Division II with force," said Head Coach Leslie Allen.  "We almost took down the top-seeded team today, and we are ready to get back in there to fight tomorrow."
