IRVINE, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT took on a rising DI power Wednesday night, but the Lions could not topple the Wildcats of the University of Kentucky. UK took the match 24-6 to stay a perfect 14-0 on the campaign, while the Lions dropped to 1-7.
What Happened? The Blue and Gold took two points in the first quarter of partner stunts, as VU drew level with UK on the second and third routines of the frame. Vanguard swiped the second routine in the next period of pyramids and tosses to trail 5-3, but the Wildcats took the remaining numbers to lead 8-3 at intermission.
The Lions bagged points after the second and third routines in the third quarter of jumps and tumbling and entered the final period trailing 12-5. The final VU point came on the second routine of combined performances, with VU sharing a point on the jumps and tumbling portion of the act to make the score 18-6. However, the Wildcats went on to take the final six tallies to win 24-6.
What's Next? Senior night for the Lions comes on Friday with two matches. VU will play CUI at 6:00 p.m., have the senior ceremony around 8:15 p.m., and a contest against St. Mary's (Texas) at 8:45 p.m.
