Narrow Defeat for STUNT in Oklahoma

SHAWNEE, Okla. -- The Vanguard STUNT team could not find victory during its time at the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament, as the Lions fell two more times on Saturday.  VU lost to the hosting Bison 20-8 though they played a more competitive match against the reigning Club Division Champions Oklahoma State, falling 13-12.  VU will return home with a record of 0-5.

VU 12 Ok. State 13 The Blue and Gold took the lead over the first period of partner stunts, taking two routines to one for the Cowboys.  However, Oklahoma State was near perfect in the second period of pyramids and tosses.  VU made one routine fall for both sides but aside the Cowboys won the other routines to snag a 5-3 edge.  As is usual, the Lions rebounded in the third frame of jumps and tumbling, taking the frame 3-1 to level the field at 6-6.  The long routines of the fourth quarter were neck-and-neck, as the two sides exchanged points.  However, Oklahoma State found an extra point to win the period 7-6 and the match 13-12.

What was Said?  "It was a snowy day for our beach Lions out here in Oklahoma.  We held our own, scoring more points than yesterday, but came up short against OBU and missed it by one point against OSU," said Head Coach Leslie Allen.

What's Next?  Vanguard returns to Costa Mesa for its first home event inside the Freed Center of Leadership & Service on March 6 at 7:00 p.m.
