LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Vanguard women's soccer finished a program-best seventh in the Pacific West Conference in 2025, and the team now has a program-best two All-PacWest performers in a season.
Rachel Penick was named to the First Team and
Francesca Lindstrom was selected to the Third Team today after the coaches voted earlier this week. The duo became the second and third All-PacWest players after
Jordin Holmquist-Wilder was named to the Third Team in 2024.
Penick ended the regular season with six goals and three assists, good for 15 points in her final campaign. Her six goals put her in a tie for fourth in the PacWest, and her two game-winning strikes put her in another tie for fourth-place in the league. She was fifth in the conference with 15 points and landed seventh with 17 shots on goal, good for an average of 1.13 per match. Penick had 29 shots during the season, a 1.81 rate per game, leaving just her shy of the top 10 in the conference. Her game at home against APU was her best statistically of the season, as she struck for beautiful goal bent into the top corner before collecting an assist on the second to net three points on the day. She had a season-high four shots on the road at Westmont and had all three of her shots on the road at Hawaii Pacific go on net. She played one complete game against her former team (CSULA), had only one yellow card all season, and made her only PK of the year against CSULA.
Penick adds a PacWest laurel to her storied career, which includes a Golden State Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and All-Conference selection in 2023. She concludes her time at Vanguard with 16 goals and 15 assists for 47 points. Her final year was her second-best year of her career, and she concluded five minutes shy of 4,000 in her four-year career.
Lindstrom gets her first nod to an All-Conference team after having a career-year for goals, as she potted four to tally eight points. Lindstrom had 13 shots in 347 minutes this season, with six of those going on target. She spread her goals out across the docket, netting her first at CSU San Bernardino to put VU ahead 2-0. She slotted home her second goal against Hawaii Hilo, pocketed the first goal against Westmont in a 2-0 victory, and had the second Vanguard tally at home versus Dominican. She had a season-high three shots in that DUC game. Lindstrom ends her career with seven goals, 45 shots (22 on target), and 1,924 minutes of action.
