FULLERTON, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT played two of the newer programs on the West Coast on Saturday in Arizona Christian and OUAZ. The Lions had no issues against either side, winning 22-0 over ACU and 23-0 against OUAZ. VU will improve to 3-1 on the season, ACU falls to 0-5, and OUAZ drops to 1-3.
Credit must be given to the Firestorm, who compete with a roster not yet big enough to complete every routine. As such, the Blue and Gold did a couple of performances on their own, which was judged against the standard set by College STUNT. Though the Lions missed on two of those points, the 22-0 victory gave VU a two-game win streak.
The squad made it three in a row against the Spirit, who had a more complete roster. But Lions were not deterred by OUAZ, as VU claimed one more point in the 23-0 decision.
Against ACU,
Graysen Young was named the stunter of the game and
Tenley Romberger was announced as the tumbler of the game, with
Brenna Higdon giving VU the most points with 52 to be the highest-rated player of the match.
Alissa Champen was the stunter of the game against OUAZ,
Melina Torres was named the tumbler of the game, and
Tatum Thompson was the highest-rated player with 46 points.
What was Said? "Our Lions showed up big," said Head Coach Leslie Allen. "We had a lot of great moments and I am happy to pick up a few wins, but we still have a lot of work to do."
What's Next? The Lions will travel to Texas Women's University for a tournament over March 1-2, with the first day bringing Drury (Mo.)
