COSTA MESA -- The spring season is here at Vanguard University and as the eight spring sports get ready to start competition, the VU STUNT program is ready to announce the 2024 schedule.  The team will compete in 18 regular season matches and then have at least four at the STUNT Regional Tournament at Hope International.  Vanguard is hoping to qualify for the STUNT National Tournament for the fifth year running and earn a chance at a second NAIA STUNT Championship in 2024.

Strength of Schedule

• California owns three of the five NAIA STUNT National Championship qualifiers from 2023 year in Vanguard, Hope International, and Jesusp.  The Blue and Gold will once again battle HIU and JU, but only once each during the regular season, and at least once at the Regional Tournament at the end of the campaign.
• At the NCAA DII level, the Lions face CUI and Dallas Baptist, who made the DII STUNT Tournament in 2023.  CUI went the furthest but missed out on making the Championship match in a defeat to Davenport.  There are also eight DI opponents as the sport builds at that level, highlighted by the still-undefeated CBU Lancers.

Notes

• Vanguard opens the season with four games at HIU on February 23-24 and all four teams the Lions will face are in the opening stages of building a STUNT program.
• VU will square off against three more veteran STUNT programs at the Dallas Baptist Tournament on March 1-2.  Drury, UT Tyler, and DBU have all had two or three years of experience, though Trevecca Nazarene is in its first year of competition. 
• The Lions will face Jessup on March 15 as part of the JU Tournament that runs through the 16th, with matches against Saint Mary's, UC Davis, and newcomer George Fox scheduled.
• The home date on March 20 will see Kentucky and Concordia Irvine return to the OCC Gym for the second year in a row.
• The STUNT Regional Tournament features VU, ACU, HIU, OUAZ, and JU battling it out at Hope on April 5-6 to crown a champion among the schools.
