STUNT Rolls in Second Half to Beat Hope

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT got in some local action on Thursday night, as VU traveled to Darling Pavilion to take on the Hope International Royals.  The Royals, in their second year, threw down some good routines, but it was not enough to edge out the Lions in the match. Vanguard pulled away over the final two frames to win 21-11, taking the Blue and Gold to 5-1 and dropping HIU to 6-3.

What Happened?  The Royals were up to the task in the first quarter of partner stunts, as each side scored points.  The second quarter of pyramids and tosses was similarly close, as the Lions held a slim 5-4 lead midway through the period.  Each team scored again in the second frame, with the Lions ahead 7-5 at halftime.

However, Vanguard would start to pick up points in a hurry in the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, outscoring the hosts 3-1 to snag a 10-6 lead entering the fourth.  The combined routines would heavily favor the Lions, who outscored the Royals 11-5 to emerge with the 21-11 victory.

Why is it Important?  While this is the most points HIU has scored in the all-time series, VU has won all four matches.

What was Said? "It was an exciting match with a packed house," said Head Coach Leslie Allen.  "We had some great performances and I am pleased with the progress we have made so far.  The Lions Roared tonight!"

What's Next?  A trip to take on a STUNT powerhouse, as the Lions will travel to Cal Baptist on Wednesday, March 15.
