FULLERTON, Calif. -- Vanguard Stunt traveled to Hope International for a regional tournament hosted by the Royals. VU opened the event by taking on the Jessup Warriors for the third time this season. Unfortunately, the Lions lost 17-10, the biggest gap between the teams this season. The Lions drop to 9-4 on the season and Jessup improves to 12-1 overall.
What Happened? The Lions and the Warriors were up to the challenge in the first quarter of partner stunts, as each squad scored two points. However, JU dominated the second quarter of pyramids and tosses, as the Warriors secured all four points to lead 6-2 at halftime.
The Blue and Gold stole the first two points of jumps and tumbling to make the score 6-4, but Jessup took the next routine. With both squads claiming a point on the final act of the third, Jessup took an 8-5 edge into the fourth frame.
The long routines started with JU taking six points over the first two performances, rolling away to a 14-5 advantage. That put a damper on any idea of a comeback for VU, as the math did not add up. The Lions slightly outscored the Warriors over the final two routines but JU won the match 17-10.
What's Next? VU will take on HIU tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. and end the vent by taking on Arizona Christian at 1:30 p.m.
