OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Vanguard University STUNT team was back in action at the Oklahoma City University Tournament Saturday and the squad picked up a pair of wins. VU started the day off with a win against Maryville University-St. Louis in a close game 15-12 before defeating Texas Woman's University 19-1. The wins send the Lions home 7-2 overall.
What Happened? vs. Maryville University-St. Louis: The Blue and Gold were challenged by the Saints all game in the first dual of the day. The teams each took points over the first three quarters, With the game in the balance in the fourth quarter, VU nailed the combined routines to pull away and win 15-12.
vs. Texas Women's University: The Lions had been put under pressure by the Saints but easily handled the first-year program of TWU. The Lions maximized their point haul in all but one quarter, as the Pioneers snagged one point in the fourth. Despite that lone misstep, the Blue and Gold cleared the Pioneers 19-1.
What was Said? "We are really thankful for the opportunity this weekend to be around some great teams," said Head Coach Leslie Allen. "It was a great experience and we can't wait to bring in some more wins. We thank Oklahoma City University for hosting and we are really happy to come home with five wins."
