STUNT Grabs First Win of the Season

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Vanguard STUNT continued a busy start to the season by traveling to Hope International Friday night to take on William Jessup.  The Lions were dialed in during the second match of the regular season, starting out in fine form and finishing with some quality routines to beat the Warriors 16-10.  The win puts VU at 1-1 on the season, as William Jessup goes to 2-2.

What Happened?  The opening quarter of partner stunts again favored the Blue and Gold, as the team took a 4-2 lead after the first few routines.  The second frame saw WJU claw back some points, as they snagged a 3-2 win in the pyramids quarter to trail 6-5 heading into the third.  Each side picked up two points in the third quarter, as both floor acrobatic routines were roughly equal in the time allowed.  With the longer performances set to decide the game in the fourth period once more, the Lions remained determined and focused.  The team doubled their score in the fourth, while the Warriors only managed three points, as the Lions picked up the 16-10 victory.

What was said?  "We came out more confident tonight and kept the pressure up throughout the game.  Our goal is to continue to execute with confidence," said Head Coach Leslie Allen.

What's Next?  The Blue and Gold will rest up on Saturday before taking on Alma College on Sunday, February 19, at 5:30 p.m.  Concordia Irvine will play Alma at 4:00 p.m. prior to VU playing the Scots.
