Vanguard University

This is Shari's fourth year with the Vanguard Lion Athletic family. She is passionate about volleyball and her faith which has made coaching here an amazing opportunity to be a coach at this level but also to be a part of the bigger mission that Vanguard pursues. 

Shari’s volleyball journey over the years has taken her near and far, on the beach, and even overseas. Before coming to Vanguard, Shari had the opportunity in 2018 to pursue being an athlete again in England. There she represented Bournemouth University as well as a semi-professional club team, simultaneously attaining a master's degree in Marketing. 

Prior to that Shari was on staff with the sports ministry FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Working there for 6 years allowed her to wear many hats within leadership, mentorship, and coaching while getting to work with many different coaches and athletes in the volleyball world.

Shari started her coaching career at age 21 in her home state of Indiana at a high-level volleyball club which is also where she competed for 9 years growing up. Her experience there led her to recieve a D1 scholarship to IUPUI. She captained her team for two years and her claim to fame is that she still holds the total season digs record there! 

Shari’s favorite season of the year is fall, she loves coffee and will probably always have one in her hand, and will enjoy any game or activity now that allows her to compete.
