After capping off a successful four year playing career with the Blue and Gold, Sam Rice has joined the coaching ranks with Vanguard Women's Volleyball. Joining in a voluntary role, Rice will help bridge the gap of eight new players joining the program and 10 players ending their careers with the Pride.

"We are so excited to have Sam come back to our program as a coach as she encapsulates what our program culture is about," remarked Head Coach JP Dorn. "I couldn't be more thrilled to have her working with our defense. Sam is a hard worker and no doubt she will move forward in the coaching world."

For her career, Rice tallied four GSAC Player of the Week awards and capped off her senior campaign as GSAC Libero of the Year. Additionally she was named All-GSAC and NAIA All-American in 2019. In the classroom, she is a two-time GSAC and NAIA Scholar Athlete. On the court she appeared in 342 sets spread across 96 total matches. She tallied 1129 total digs, 3.30 per set, as well as handing out 152 assists. Rice also contributed 59 total service aces. For her career, she sits in seventh place all time in digs, posting 103 more digs in 22 less sets than the eight place player (Lisa Morgan).
