VANGUARD ATHLETICS
VU – WVB 2024 Laura Galloway Head Shot

Laura Galloway

Laura Galloway begins her first season as the Vanguard women's volleyball lead assistant coach.

Galloway comes to Costa Mesa after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at fellow PacWest Conference school Westmont. Galloway was involved in the creation of game day scouting reports, conducting practice drills and the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. She helped the Warriors to a combined 36-22 record, which included a trip to the NAIA National Championship in 2022.

A 1996 graduate of Westmont with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Galloway was a standout player with the Warriors, where she was known as Laura Hays. During her collegiate career, she earned several prestigious accolades, including Team Captain, Most Valuable Player, Most Improved and the Coaches Award, as an outside hitter.

“We are delighted to have Laura Galloway to join the Vanguard Lions family,” said Dorn. “Her extensive experience, passion for the sport, and commitment to developing the next generation of athletes will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success and legacy of the Vanguard Women’s Indoor Volleyball program.”

Additionally, Galloway possesses over 13 seasons of coaching experience at the high school level, having held both assistant and head coaching positions at Santa Fe Christian High School (Solana Beach, 2006-10), Tri-City Christian High School (Vista, 2012-18) and Miller High School (1998-2000) in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her leadership drove teams to appearances in the San Diego CIF Finals, a San Diego Division Championship, and multiple League championships.

She also founded and coached the first women’s CIF beach volleyball team at Tri-City Christian.

“I have a deep passion for volleyball, and coupled with my commitment to nurturing a Christ-centered environment, perfectly aligns with the core values of the Vanguard Lions program,” said Galloway. “I look forward to becoming an invaluable asset to our coaching staff and inspiring these young women as we enter a new era in NCAA Division II competition.”

Her two daughters, Emma and Hali, also have deep roots in women’s volleyball. Emma is currently a member of Vanguard’s back-to-back NAIA National Championship program, earning NAIA All-American honors in 2024. Hali played collegiately at Westmont and helped her team to a runner-up finish at the NAIA National Tournament in 2019, and later competed for the University of Hawai‘i on the beach volleyball squad.

Galloway and her husband, Keith, have been married nearly 27 years and have both actively volunteered for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
