In her first season for the Lions, the team finished second in both the regular season and GSAC conference tournaments. During her second campaign, the team finished third in both but made it back to Sioux City with an automatic berth in the NAIA National Championships. The team achieved a highest ranking under her guidance at 14th in 2018, but all of those metrics were reset in 2023.  Dorn guided a dazzling lineup to a 29-2 record overall, including a program record 27 game winning streak.  The Lions won the GSAC regular season title and the Tournament Championship for the first time in the same season and got the lone automatic bid to the National Tournament.  Ranked 10th in the final coaches' poll, VU beat Benedictine University Mesa to return to Sioux City and was put down as the nine seed in pool play.  The Blue and Gold dispatched Saint Katherine and Missouri Baptist to reach the quarterfinals for the second time in program history.  In addition, the 2023 squad set new records for most wins in a season, fewest defeats, highest NAIA ranking, finished with the second-most conference wins in program history, and is the only team to go undefeated in conference play.

Prior to Vanguard:

Her athletic coaching has covered NCAA Division I & II, and NAIA schools during her 17-year span. She returned to Southern California after four years in St. Charles, Missouri, at Lindenwood University, where she served as an assistant coach for both men's and women's volleyball, on their NCAA Division I and II teams. It was at Lindenwood University that Dorn implemented a fresh coaching philosophy and skill instruction, and increased her winning ways from 5-25 to 15-15 within six months of implementation. Before her time at Lindenwood University, Dorn spent four years at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Dorn was also the men's and women's volleyball assistant coach and broke history with a 31-8 winning season with the women. She also assisted the men's team in making their first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Invitational. Dorn also served as men's and women's volunteer volleyball coach at California Baptist University in Riverside from 2004-2009, where she assisted the women's team to the NAIA Volleyball National Champions in 2004 and 2005. Dorn's career began at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama as an assistant coach for women's volleyball.
