Vanguard University

The athlete:  Sonia begins her first season on the women’s basketball team at Vanguard University…the 6’3” center transferred from Oral Roberts University after playing one season…native of Ivory Coast Africa…graduated from International High School lemania Abidjan in 1998…was a three-time selection to the Ivory Coast National Team…physically strong player with great rebounding skills…will play the center position for Vanguard…has the potential to dominate opponents.

The person:  Sonia was born in Treichville, Abidjan, Africa on May 20, 1979 to her parents Raymond Kouassi and Helene N’Guessan N’Dri…has five siblings who play basketball and soccer…nickname is “Shaq Attack”…is majoring in Management at Vanguard…sports hero is Shaquille O’Neal…likes to eat Chinese and French food…enjoys reading, writing, dancing, dancing, shopping, and going to movies…feels the biggest problem in the world is the lack of trust…would like to meet God…likes the confidence and chemistry of her new team at VU…competing in athletics has taught her to never quit…life has taught her that God is the only one to be trusted…she wants to become a Computer Engineer.

Her thoughts:  I came to Vanguard University because Coach Davis gave me the opportunity to prove that I can use my God-given gifts.  I love the simplicity of the people at VU.
