Vanguard University

The athlete:  Lisa transferred to Vanguard University this fall from the University of California, Irvine…the junior point guard played two seasons for UCI and Coach Mark Adams…holds UCI’s school record for assists…made the Honorable Mention All-Big West Team as a sophomore in 2003…graduated from Oregon City High School in 2001…was an All-Conference and All-State high school player and team MVP for OCHS…helped lead team to two league championships and two state tournaments…has played basketball for 13 years…VU’s new floor leader will be one of the best point guards in the NAIA…huge addition to the young Lion team…superior ball handling and passing skills…speedy…good touch on her shot…will give opponents’ defense fits…could be a candidate for GSAC Player of the Year…spiritual leader…team captain…two years of NCAA Division I experience will make her a prime candidate to lead the Lions back to the NAIA Final Four.

The person:  Lisa was born on December 10, 1982 in Milwaukie, Oregon…father is David Faulkner…mother is Angie Horst…has three brothers…nicknames are “Gus Gus” and “Faulkie”…likes to eat Greek food…sports heroes are Jerry Rice and Michael Jordan…loves the movie “The Wizard of Oz” and the TV show “Law and Order”…favorite color is blue and number is 21…roots for the San Francisco 49ers…enjoys spending time at the beach, surfing, and body boarding…likes the book “Where the Red Fern Grows”…would like to meet Jesus…loves the team chemistry of her VU Lions…has learned from life that not everyone is dealt an equal hand, but it is all about how you play the hand you are dealt…competing in basketball has taught her that the little things matter the most.

Her thoughts:  I transferred to Vanguard because of the Christian atmosphere.  I also like that it only takes two minutes to walk to class.
