The athlete:  Lacey is a two-year starter returning for her third season as a Lion…has started 67 games of her 70-game career at VUSC…averages 9.1 points and six rebounds per game…worked hard on strength and her shooting in the off season…moves into a team captain role this year…graduated in 2003 from San Clemente High School…played for Coach Mary Mulligan in the South Coast League…Most Improved Player on the SCHS varsity as a junior…received Coaches’ Award as a senior…2003 All-League player…2003 2nd-Team All-CIF…SCHS won four South Coast League Championships and three CIF Championships while Burns was there…also played basketball for the OC Spirit Club team…has played basketball since she was in eighth grade…versatile, athletic player…tireless worker…talented and reliable teammate…expect Lacey to have a break out season as a junior.

The person:  Lacey Ann Burns was born in San Clemente, California on May 21, 1985 to her parents Terry and Kim Burns…is the oldest of four children…is pursuing a major in Exercise Sports Science and minor in Business at VUSC…nickname is “B”…sports hero is her grandfather…enjoys eating cherry chocolate cake and fruit…favorite movies are “Sandlot” and “Napoleon Dynamite”…loves the colors pink and turquoise…favorite number is 25…roots for the LA Lakers…enjoys surfing, eating, and coaching…would like to meet Jessica Simpson…believes that cancer is the biggest problem in the world…doesn’t like it when people are untruthful…has learned from life to stay away from drama and to invest time in relationships that are important to you…playing basketball has taught her about teamwork and to compete every time…wants to be a basketball coach or personal trainer.

Her thoughts:  I selected Vanguard to play basketball in a Christian atmosphere. I love the friendships I’ve made here.
