Vanguard University

The athlete:  Lacey is a freshman from San Clemente High School…graduated in 2003…played for Coach Mary Mulligan in the South Coast League…Most Improved Player on the SCHS varsity as a junior…received Coaches’ Award as a senior…2003 All-League player…2003 2^nd-Team All-CIF…SCHS won four South Coast League Championships and two CIF Championships while Burns was there…also played basketball for the OC Spirit Club team…has played since she was in eighth grade…versatile, athletic player…will play multiple positions for the Lions…talented player…leader on and off the court…should make an immediate impact as a freshman…will compete for a starting role…look for Lacey to have a great career at Vanguard.

The person:  Lacey Ann Burns was born in San Clemente, California on May 21, 1985…parents are Terry and Kim Burns…has two sisters and one brother…will be an Exercise Sports Science student at VU…nickname is “Manny”…loves the movie “Sandlot” and the TV show “Saved By The Bell”…favorite meal is having a “family” dinner…sports hero is Michael Jordan…likes the color turquoise and the number 25…enjoys reading the Bible, surfing, sleeping, and eating…would like to meet Jesus…loves the team chemistry on and off the court with her team…has learned from life that “Everything is possible for him who believes” (Mark 9:23)…playing basketball has taught her about discipline and to play your hardest…sees herself as a Physical Education Teacher some day.

Her thoughts:  She picked Vanguard because it is close to her home and has a competitive basketball team.  She likes that the beach is right around the corner.
