The athlete: Courtney missed some action because of a concussion last season after playing in every game as a sophomore for the Lions…returns for her fourth and final season…will be pushing for a starting position…All-Sunset League player at Huntington Beach High School in 1999…will take over the center position this season…talented post player…runs the floor well and is a sound rebounder…extremely hard worker and team player…expect her to have a career year…will compliment the new plan of attack for VU this season…NAIA Scholar-Athlete as a junior…very involved in campus activity groups on campus…outgoing personality…good natured player who turns the competitiveness on when she steps onto the court…should play a big role for the Lions in 2002-03.

The person: Courtney was born in Newport Beach, California on November 15, 1981 to her parents Bill and Joan McKinney…has one younger brother…nickname is “Bonus”… carries a 3.5 GPA in Biology at Vanguard…favorite movie is “The Usual Suspects”… enjoys studying science, reading, learning more about everything…favorite shows on TV are “Law and Order” and “Everyone Loves Raymond”…roots for the LA Lakers…sports hero is Lance Armstrong…likes the color green and the number 32…would like to meet Dr. Phil…likes the sustaining friendships that are made on the VUSC Lion team…feels that lack of health care availability is the biggest problem in the world…seeks to become a great, loving, passionate, and hard-working doctor.

Her thoughts: I came to VU to play basketball and seek God.  I love the relationships, the education, the spirit and freedom to worship God that I’ve received here.
