The athlete:  Anna begins the fourth year of her women’s basketball career at Vanguard...third season of competition after using a redshirt year as a freshman…second-year team captain with outstanding leadership qualities…has played in 63 games, primarily as a reserve for the Lions…spirited player who brings a boost off the bench…graduated from Dinuba High School in 2002…played basketball for Coach Traci Jones…three-sport high school athlete…received Best Defensive Player, MVP, and Coaches’ Award while at DHS…also a 2^nd-Team All-League player…has played basketball for 13 years…great work ethic…team oriented individual…plays the guard positions but rebounds like a center…will be limited in her role with the team this year due to her commitment to VUSC as a Resident Assistant.

The person:  Anna Mariah Dittenbir was born in Kingsburg, California on December 4, 1983…father is Doug Dittenbir…mother is Gayle Sparks…has three brothers and two sisters…is an Exercise Sport Science major with a Teaching and Coaching emphasis…likes to eat Chinese food…favors the color pink and number 11…favorite movie is “Dumb and Dumber”…watches the TV show “Friends”…enjoys extreme sports, surfing, skating, and wakeboarding…roots for the VU Volleyball Team…favorite place is home…feels the biggest problem in the world is that not enough people know  and love Jesus…competing in basketball has taught her about mental toughness, how to win, and to work as a team in different situations…wants to become a woman of excellence.

Her thoughts:  I came to Vanguard because my older sister Robbin went to school here.  I like the different opportunities to draw closer to God and develop spiritual gifts through relationships and activities.

Coach Davis’ Comments: Anna is huge to our team in so many ways.  She is a great leader who is loved by everyone and has made a tremendous impact on this program during her career.
