Biography

The athlete:  Lindsey enters her third year with the Lions…part-time starter as a sophomore…came to Vanguard from Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa…garnered CIF Woman of the Year, Athlete of the Month, and All-CIF awards as a high school senior in 2001…member of Olympic League Championship teams for three seasons…has played softball for eight years…versatile athlete who played multiple positions in high school and has for Vanguard as well…bats right…throws right…played club softball with the OC Athletics and the OC Crackerjacks…hard worker with good speed and skills…picked up good experience as a role player in her first two seasons…VU’s Most Improved Player in 2003…should be ready to contribute more as a junior…will be competing for a starting spot in the lineup…clutch hitter as a sophomore…hit .388 in 50 at bats…a spiritual leader on the team…sets a great example of determination, desire, and love for the game…look for a break out year for Dyer.

 

The person:  Lindsey was born on April 12, 1983 in Fountain Valley, California…parents are Joe and Donna Dyer…has one younger brother…teammates just call her “Dyer”…junior in the Exercise Sport Science program at VU…specializing in Teaching and Coaching…roots for David Eckstein and the Anaheim Angels…also cheers for Ohio State University…loves to eat Italian food…enjoys going to Disneyland, taking photographs, and drawing…favorite movie is “Return to Me” and TV show is “X-Files”…likes to read Agatha Christie mystery books…loves the color midnight blue and the number 10…would like to meet Dean Martin…feels the biggest problems in the world are slow drivers and alarm clocks…loves the spark, work ethic, talent, and love for the game of her VU teammates…has learned that God is always in control…competing in softball has taught her that God won’t give her more than she can handle…wants to become the head coach of a respected team, and a visionary.

 

Her thoughts:  I chose Vanguard University because I wanted to play softball at a small Christian community that was geographically desirable.  I appreciate that we have a great team and get to play in good weather.
