Vanguard University

The athlete:  Jenna is a junior who enters her second season with Vanguard…worked 63.2 innings as a sophomore…earned four wins and struck out 33 batters in her debut with the Lions…transferred to VUSC after playing one season for Arizona Western College…graduated from Foothill High School in Palo Cedro in 2002…two-sport high school athlete at FHS…All-League softball player as a senior for coaches Wayne Stower and Novie Willis…received the Coaches’ Award as a freshman…played three years of club ball with the North Valley Rapids…right-handed pitcher…has played softball for 12 years…has good movement on her pitches…should be an effective mix in the VU pitching staff…works extremely hard…team player with a great attitude…has blended well with her teammates…physically strong…could play a big role in 2005 for the Lions.

The person:  Jenna May Willis was born on May 28, 1984 in Redding, California to her parents Novie and Marla Willis…has one younger brother…teammates call her “JW”, “Jenna May” or “Mesa”…is studying  Mathematics at Vanguard…will eat almost anything that is home cooked…enjoys watching the TV show “Friends”…loves the color blue and the number four…cheers for the San Francisco Giants…favorite place is at home with her family…hobbies include playing softball, riding her horse, and spending time with family and friends…feel that the biggest problem in the world is the lack of love…likes her teammates because they are a blast to be around and they work very hard…has learned from life to do her best and everything she can to be happy…competing in athletics has taught her to work hard, set goals, and pursue them hard…wants to become a high school Math Teacher.

Her thoughts:  I came to Vanguard to play softball and get closer to God.  I really like the class sizes, the access to teachers, and my softball team.

Coach Renkoski’s Comments:  Jenna is possibly the nicest and most polite person I have ever met.  Athletically, she is strong, hard working, and as competitive as they come.
