Vanguard University

The athlete:  Jenna is a sophomore transfer in her first season with the Lions…transferred to Vanguard from Arizona Western College…saw limited action as a freshman…graduated from Foothill High School in Palo Cedro in 2002…played basketball and softball at FHS…All-League softball player as a senior…received Coaches’ Award as a freshman…played three years of club ball with the North Valley Rapids…right-handed pitcher…has played softball for 11 years…has good movement on her pitches…should be an effective mix in the VU pitching staff…works hard in practice…team player…great attitude…has blended well with her teammates…could be a key ingredient in Vanguard’s success this season.

The person:  Jenna May Willis was born on May 28, 1884 in Redding, California…her parents are Novie and Marla Willis…has one younger brother…nickname is “Sunshine”…is a Mathematics major at Vanguard…will eat almost anything that is home cooked…favorite TV shows are “Friends” and “CSI”…loves the color blue and the number four…is a fanatic of the San Francisco Giants…enjoys spending time at home…hobbies include playing softball, riding her horse, and spending time with family and friends…believes that drugs and violence are the biggest problem in the world…feels like her teammates are a blast to be around and they work very hard…has learned that not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted…competing in athletics has taught her that everyone has good and bad days and ups and downs, but if someone gives their all, all of the time, you can be proud at the end of the day…sees herself as a high school Math Teacher or Physical Education Teacher while coaching softball.

Her thoughts:  Vanguard seemed like a good place to spend my college career.  I love my coaches, teammates, and the environment.
