The athlete:  Holly came to VU from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Washington…2001 graduate…captain of the softball team for two years under Coach Shelley Brown…MVP her senior year…1^st Team All-Kingco League as a third baseman…member of 1999 State Championship team…two-time District and Kingco Champions…played every position on the field in travel ball…switch hitter…throws right…versatile player who will also play multiple positions for the Lions…good fundamentals…competitive player who has the opportunity to have a big effect for VU this year.

The person:  Holly was born on October 3, 1983 in Seattle, Washington to her parents Ricardo and Roxanne Martinez…has one older brother…has many nicknames…is undecided in what to major at Vanguard…likes to eat teriyaki chicken…favorite movie is “Billy Madison”…hobbies include snowboarding, surfing, skating, sleeping, and shopping…roots for the Seattle Mariners…thinks selfishness is the world’s biggest problem…has learned that it takes a lot of faith and dependency on God to make it in life…competing in sports has taught her about perseverance and mental toughness…is unsure of what her future holds.

Her thoughts:  She chose Vanguard University because of the Christian atmosphere, the fun people, and to play softball.  I like it for all the same reasons.
