COSTA MESA --  A Second Team All-Pacific West Conference golfer last year, VU's Alexander Elia has been named the PacWest Men's Golfer of the Week today, his second nod after sharing the honors with teammate Fisher Ransom earlier this year.  Elia gets the laurel after picking up his first collegiate tournament victory at the Dominican Spring Invitational yesterday.  He began the event at +6, but his second round of 66 (-6) not only got him close to the best single-round score in program history (second), it vaulted him to the lead for good.  With a final round of 69 (-3), Elia pocketed an eagle during his final tour of the course and won by three shots over a trio of chasers to stand alone at the top of the podium.  His second round was his season-best, and his third round tied his third-best score for this campaign.  Elia ended the fall with a 72.3 average and is sitting on a 73.6 rate after 11 rounds this spring.  He now has two podiums this school year and soon returns to the PacWest Championships, where he finished ninth a year ago on the same course.
