LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Vanguard golf received three All-Pacific West Conference selections for the 2025-26 school year today, as
Theresa Shaw landed on the Second Team on the women's side,
Fisher Ransom made the First Team for the men, and
Alexander Elia placed on the Third Team. The three All-Conference teams are based on the individual rankings on Clippd, the current system used to keep track of collegiate golf stats. Shaw netted her third selection in a row, while Elia is now a back-to-back honoree.
Shaw was Vanguard's best women's golfer in 2025-26, finishing with one win and two podiums during the school year. She opened the season in grand style, shooting her best round of the year on day one of the RJGA Shootout (69) and winning the event on day two (72, -3 overall), her first collegiate tournament triumph. She placed third at the Wasatch Invite after that (73-75), with respectable showings at the Regional Preview (T-29th, 76-79) and the CSUEB Fall Invite (T-34th, 79-77-81), leaving her with a fall stroke average of 75.7. However, she did not have any rounds over 80 during the second half of the year to bring her stroke average down to 75.1 for the spring. She opened the second act with an eighth-place showing at the CSULA Spring Kickoff (77-72-72) and then tied for 24th at the Tim Tierney event (76-73). She netted a tie for 18th at the CSUSM Fujikura Invite (78-74-77) and concluded the regular season tied for 47th at the RJGA Spring Shootout (77-75). Returning to the place where she helped Biola win the title last year, Shaw went 72-74-74 at the PacWest Tournament to end tied for fourth. She was selected as an at-large individual for the NCAA West Regional, where she improved her performance at the Pueblo CC to end tied for 16th at the Regional Tournament (78-74-79), giving her a 75.3 stroke average for the entire year.
Ransom had a brilliant season for the Lions after moving over from HPU. He opened the season at the Chico State Wildcat Classic and was in the hunt for the win all weekend, shooting 71-69-67, with his 67 being his best single round of the year. He went on to finish tied for fourth and concluded the year with nine rounds under par during the season to pace the Lions. He went to Washington for the St. Martin's Invite (76-75-73) and ended tied for 49th, but got back on the podium to close out the fall. He ended the Western Washington Fall Invite tied for first, placing second after three playoff holes (70-67-72). However, he soon grabbed the top individual trophy with a 67-69 line at the TMU Danish Invite, his first VU win, and a big part of the men's first team victory at the event, the first ever in program history. While an injury caused him to miss the next two tournaments, Ransom returned for the Tim Tierney Invite, going 68-77-77 to end tied for 57th. He vaulted back into the top 10 at the DUC Spring Invite, as his 75-73-70 line placed him in a tie for sixth. He ended the PacWest Tournament with scores of 75-76-68, tied for the second-best score during the final round at the championship, and tied for the third-best mark in VU history for a single round. He placed in a tie for 96th at the West/South Regional to conclude his career, going 76-76-79. He had a 70.5 average in the fall, a 74.1 in the spring, and a stroke average of 72.4 for the year.
Elia had a couple of major milestones in 2025-26, which included his first tournament victory and the men's first tournament victory as a team in program history. He began the year with one of his six rounds under par at the Chico State Wildcat Classic, going 71-69-78 to end tied for 45th. He tied for 17th at the St. Martin's Bishop Invite (75-70-69), and he concluded the WWU Fall Invite tied for 54th (77-75-75). The TMU Danish Classic was the best tournament of the year for the men, as the Lions captured the team trophy. The lineup hit 280 during the opening round, tying the first round of the Wildcat Classic for the lowest single-round score all-time for the men's program. With a second round tally of 289, VU won by eight shots, and Elia helped that by going 69-68 to place second, putting his fall stroke average at 72.3. Elia opened the spring at the CSUSM Spring Tournament and ended tied for 45th (74-71-80), with a tie for 39th at the RJGA Visit Stockton DII Invite (76-73) coming next. After ending tied for 63rd at the Tim Tierney Invite (76-75-72), Elia claimed his first individual crown in his career. He began the Dominican Spring Invite with a round of 78 before shooting his best score of the season, 66, in round two, with a 69 during round three securing the first-place trophy. He went 81-82-72 at the PacWest Championships (33rd) and ended tied for 32nd at the West/South Regional with scores of 73-70-75. That gave Elia a spring stroke average of 74.2 and a 73.5 average for the entire year.
