LONG BEACH, Calif. -- VU men's soccer received a nod in the weekly honors today from the Pacific West Conference as Zander Zill was tabbed as a Co-Player of the Week, the third man to net the honor in the conference.  Zill picked up his first career weekly award due to the freshman's involvement in the Vanguard attack in the games against Jessup and Dominican.  In the 6-0 blanking of the Warriors, Zill stroked in his second goal of the season in the 14th minute to put the Blue and Gold ahead before he added an assist on Xavier Alcantar's goal in the 52nd minute.  The Lions received a penalty kick in the 76th, which Zill converted into his third goal of the campaign.  Zill tied Alcantar with three shots and two shots on goal in the game for a team-high.  He then tied for the match-high in shots against the Penguins with four as the Lions tried to overturn an early deficit, though the squad could not pull it off.  Though he missed the first six games of the season, Zill has since moved into a tie for second on the team with eight points.  His three goals are second on the team, and his two assists are tied for most on the roster.  He has put up 14 shots this year, good for third on the team.  He and the Lions travel to Point Loma on Wednesday before ending the regular season next week at home against Biola.
