COSTA MESA -- For the 2024-25 school year, four Vanguard Lions were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American All-District lists.
Micah Swartz (men's basketball),
Sarah Matossian &
Halle Si'i (women's basketball), and
Maxwell Montplaisir (baseball) were selected to the All-District Teams for their respective sports.
The Academic All-American program honors student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their sport and in the classroom. Those nominated must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and meet criteria that changes per sport for participation and statistics. Those nominated make the All-District Teams and CSC members then vote a select group to the Academic All-American honor roll. The award began in 1952 and is the oldest running award across all of college athletics.

Swartz played 26 games for the Lions and got one start. He had a career-high 42.3% shooting rate from beyond the arc in 2024-25 and made some big shots throughout the campaign. |
Sarah Matossian |
Bussiness Administration/Accounting |
A PacWest First-Team honoree, Matossian led the Lions in point scoring, field goal percentage, rebounds, offensive boards, and steals. She finished second in blocks and in three-point percentage on the squad and was top five in the PacWest in rebounds, minutes played, and assists. She averaged 13 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per contest. |
Halle Si'i |
Communications |
Si'i started in all 26 games for the Lions and netted Third-Team honors in the PacWest. She tallied 319 points, shot 34.5% from the floor, and notched 43 steals. For the third time in her career, Si'i dished out over 100 assists and grabbed over 100 total rebounds. She ended the year 12th in steals in the Pacwest and had the 18th-best free throw percentage. |
Maxwell Montplaisir |
Masters Organizational Psychology |
Finishing out his collegiate career, Montplaisir collected a 2.19 ERA in 19 appearances from the pen for the Blue and Gold. He posted a 3-1 record, fanned 32 hitters, and secured six saves for VU. He tied for sixth in the PacWest and had a top-three ERA among closers. |
