LA JOLLA, Calif. – Vanguard men's track and field headed south to the Triton Invitational this weekend to battle some of the top teams in NCAA Division I and II.
Eight Lions suited up to test their mettle against the competition.Â
Sophomore Jesse O'Campo finished in eighth place in his first career try at 10,000 meters, clocking 32:36.49. He is ranked No. 12 in the PacWest with that time.
Fellow sophomore Ommar Arroyo competed in the 5000 meters and posted a time of 16:09.25.
The Lions participated in the sprints with Chris Watson appearing in the 100 meter dash. The senior finished in 11.43 seconds.
Jonathan Krynicki and Donovan Ralls raced in the 200 and 400 meters. Krynicki crossed the finish line in 22.54 in the 200, while Ralls posted a time of 22.95. In the 400, Ralls nipped Krynicki at the line as the two recorded times of 50.02 and 50.03, respectively.
In the 4x100 relay, Ralls, Krynicki, Blake Rodriguez and Watson placed 10th in 42.63 seconds.
The 4x400 relay had Krynicki, Ralls, Rodriguez and Isaiah Feaver finishing in 3:21.00 for ninth place.
The Lions competed in one field event with freshman Zachary Velasco clearing 6 feet, 1.25 inches (1.86m) in the high jump.
What's Next?: The Lions will participate in their final meet before the PacWest Championships, tuning up at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, April 12.
