IRVINE, Calif. – The Vanguard men's track and field team was in action at the Vince O'Boyle Classic on Saturday and sophomore Cohen Swift moved up in the school's all-time top-10 in the 400 hurdles.
Swift, who ran the event in one minute even at last season's Golden State Athletic Conference meet, jumped from eighth to sixth in the record book after clocking 58.18 seconds at Anteater Stadium. He leapfrogged Quinton Alexander (58.51) and Dan Clements (59.84) to occupy his new spot on the leaderboard.
Swift ranks 13th in the PacWest in the 400 hurdles.
A handful of Lions were also in action as freshman Zachary Velasco tied for second in the high jump, posting a top mark of 6 feet, 1.25 inches.
Senior Chris Watson finished eighth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.06.
In the 800 meter run, Jesse O'Campo delivered the best time of three Lion participants in 2:00.83. Cooper Anderson (2:02.21) and Josiah Kirby (2:03.71) also competed.
Blake Rodriguez ran the 100 meter dash in 11.48 seconds, just missing his personal-best by one-hundredth of a second.
Isaiah Feaver appeared in the 400 meter dash and posted a 53.29.
Donovan Ralls, Jonathan Krynicki, Rodriguez and Watson placed sixth in the 4x100 relay in 43.01 seconds.
