RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Vanguard men's track and field continued its 2025 campaign in the Inland Empire on Saturday at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic.
The Lions registered one first place finish, two second placers and three third placers while competing in 10 events at the UC Riverside Track Stadium.
Sophomore Jonathan Krynicki posted the victory in the 200 meter dash with his time of 22.16 seconds. Krynicki also logged a third place showing in the 100 meter dash (10.98).
In the 4x100 relay, Blake Rodriguez, Chris Watson, Krynicki and Donovan Ralls posted a 42.57 for second place.
The 3000 steeplechase had Ommar Arroyo clocking a 10:16.20 for second place.
Senior Chris Watson ran the 110 meter hurdles in 15.06 seconds for third place.
The high jump featured freshman Zachary Velasco clearing 6-00.75 (1.85m) for third place.
In the long jump, fellow freshman Trevor Bode recorded a top mark of 20-05.75 (6.24m), while Velasco posted a 19-10.25 (6.05m).
Cooper Anderson led a group of four Lions in the 800 meters, placing fifth overall in 1:59.49. Jesse O'Campo (2:05.70) finished seventh, Josiah Kirby (2:06.14) eighth and Caleb Dickerson (2:11.38) 10th.
Anthony Kennen ran a 16:29.48 in the 5000 meters for fifth place.
What's Next?: The Lions participate in the Vince O'Boyle Invitational on March 28-29 at UC Irvine.
