Costa Mesa -- The dance program at Vanguard University is pleased to announce its first-ever competition calendar.  Head Coach Taylor Smith has generated a schedule that will take the team to a number of competitions across the country, with the squad looking to qualify for the NAIA Cheer & Dance Championship later this year.

The Lions will start their competitive season by traveling to New Orleans for the Battle in the Big Easy.  VU will take on Montreat College out of North Carolina and Ave Maria University of Florida on day one, with the team then facing St. Thomas, again from Florida, on day two. 

The Blue and Gold will then face Hope International on February 17 before heading to York, Nebraska, to participate in an NAIA National Qualifier event on February 26.  If the team puts up the needed scores, the NAIA Championships will take place in Ypsilanti, Michigan, over March 11-12.

"I am extremely excited to see what this season has to offer for the team," said Coach Smith.  "This being our first season, I am just preparing the team to go out there and perform the best they can. We will be traveling a lot and will be up against some good competitors, but I know the girls can do it!"
