COSTA MESA, Calif. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2019 Men's Soccer Awards Selections, which include the Player of the Year and the All-American selections. Andrew Robles (SO/Tustin, CA) and Marc Trejo (SO/Santa Ana, CA) were named NAIA All-America Honorable Mentions for their impressive achievements on the pitch.
The NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Men's Soccer Coaches Association officers and seven additional men's soccer coaches, select the three 11-member teams and the honorable mention teams.
Robles and Trejo were also were honored by the Golden State Athletic Conference for their season-long accomplishments as they were named to the GSAC All-Conference Team for 2019.
Robles who was named the GSAC Newcomer of the Year in 2018, didn't skip a beat as he would lead the team in goals scored (7) and points (19) to go along with five assists. One of his best moments this year came against The Master's University as he would make a pure effort play to beat the keeper to the ball and knock it into the back of the net in the 85th minute of a tightly contested game to give the Blue and Gold a victory in their first conference game of the year.
Trejo was selected to the All-GSAC team for the first time in his young career. The sophomore from Santa Ana knows how to turn it on when it counts as recorded his second straight season with four assists in conference play. He scored a big goal for the Lions in their opening-round game in the GSAC Tournament to seal their victory over The Master's University. He finished with one goal and four assists for a total of six points on the year.
