Boggs Named Academic All-America

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The 2015 Capital One Academic All- America Softball Teams were released today and Vanguard University was represented by Brittney Boggs (SR/Lakewood, CA). The senior infielder was one of two players from the Golden State Athletic Conference to receive the prestigious award.

Earlier this month, she earned an All District award for the first time in her career which propelled her to this national level recognition. Boggs also represented the Blue and Gold on the GSAC and NAIA Scholar Athlete teams.

To be eligible, the student-athlete must have a 3.5 GPA or higher. While majoring in Kinesiology, Boggs totaled a 3.66 GPA. In addition to academic excellence, the players must also be a top performer for their respective clubs on the diamond.

Leading the Lions in batting average, Boggs had a team high 203 at bats while playing in all 59 games for the Blue and Gold this season. She tallied 79 hits including 16 doubles, three triples, and five home runs while drove in 56 runs. With a slugging percentage of .571, she scored 44 runs on 116 total bases. Boasting a .432 on base percentage, Boggs was walked 14 times and reached safely an additional two times after being hit by the pitch.In the field, she posted 400 put outs and 28 assists for a .984 fielding percentage.
