The athlete:  Melody competed in four sports and cheerleading at Mount Vernon Christian High School before attending VU…is also on the track team at Vanguard…talented athlete who competes in the heptathlon event…defensive specialist for the Lion volleyball team…intelligent and aggressive player…will not let a ball drop to the floor…excellent athlete…good work ethic and great attitude…complete team player…will play any role needed by the team…supportive teammate on and off the court.

The person:  Melody was born in Spokane, Washington on December 11, 1980 to her parents Lynn and Barb Strauss…call her Mel…is a junior in the Athletic Training Program at VU…likes Japanese food…favorite movie is “Newsies”…enjoys going to the mountains…sports hero is Jackie Joyner Kersey…is a Seattle Mariner fan…athletics has taught her about teamwork and determination…wants to become a Certified Athletic Trainer for a professional team some day.
