The athlete:  Melody was involved in four sports and cheerleading at Mount Vernon Christian High School prior to becoming a Lion…competed for the Lions in Track and Field last year…freshman setter for the volleyball program…excellent athlete…quick learner and competitive player…hitting and setting skills will be her strength…good work ethic… has the required focus and desire to improve.

The person:  Melody was born December 11, 1980 in Spokane, Washington to Lynn and Barb Strauss…Mel is in the Athletic Training Program at VU…loves Italian food and snowy mountains…likes “Friends” and “Seinfeld” on TV…hobbies include hiking, mountain biking, snow boarding, and kayaking…would like to meet Jackie Joyner Kersey…feels racism is the biggest problem in the world…likes that her team is so encouraging…her goal is to be an Athletic Trainer.

Her thoughts:  She came to Vanguard to receive a quality education in Athletic Training.  She likes that the people are friendly to her.
