In Dorn's first season coaching the Lions, the team finished second in both the regular season and GSAC conference tournaments. Since then, Dorn got the Lions to two NAIA National Tournaments and ended her time in the GSAC with the programs lone sweep of the regular season and tournament titles. Since entering the PacWest, Dorn has seen three All-Conference players come from her team.
During her second campaign, VU finished third in the standings but made it to Sioux City with an automatic berth in the NAIA National Championships. The Lions achieved a ranking of 14th in 2018, the highest ranking under her guidance, but all of those metrics were reset in 2023. Dorn guided a dazzling lineup to a 29-2 record overall, including a program record 27 game winning streak. JP was named the GSAC Coach of the Year after the dazzling campaign. After the twin titles and ranked 10th in the final coaches' poll, VU beat Benedictine University Mesa in the Opening Round game to return to Sioux City for the NAIA Tournament final site. Put down as the nine seed in pool play, the Blue and Gold dispatched Saint Katherine and Missouri Baptist to reach the quarterfinals for the second time in program history. In addition, the 2023 squad set new records for most wins in a season, fewest defeats, highest NAIA ranking, the only undefeated conference season in program history, and the second-most conference wins in program history.
