The athlete:  Rene’ starts his VU career this fall…comes to Vanguard from Coachella Valley High School…2005 graduate who played for Coach Jorge Chavez in the Desert Soccer League…CVHS Team MVP…Player of the Year…Rookie of the Year…has played soccer for 11 years…slight of build, but quick of feet…will add a speedy flair to the Lion midfield…intense and aggressive on the field…always in the action…could make an immediate impact as a freshman…will improve as he gains collegiate experience…Rodriguez should be a name you hear often in the future of Vanguard soccer.

The person:  Rene’ Antonio was born on September 1, 1986 in El Salvador…parents are Roberto and Claudia…has not decided on a major at this time…sports hero is Rivaldo Ronaldinho…favorite movie is “Shreck 2”…loves the color blue and the number 13…favorite place is El Salvador…loves his VU soccer team…spends his free time playing soccer and watching television…feels that terrorism is the biggest problem in the world…has learned from life that nothing is easy…playing soccer has taught him that you have to work hard to win.

His thoughts:  Rene’ is happy that he chose Vanguard University.
