The athlete: Mark came to Vanguard in the spring of 2003 from Cal State San Bernardino…played in all 19 games for the Coyotes in 2002…played in all 20 games for the Lions in 2003…is a utility player…scored 11 points for VU last year…is an exciting player...type of player that makes things happen…played four years at Ruben S. Ayala H.S. in Chino Hills, California…first-team all-league and Most Valuable Player in both his junior and senior years…was an All-Conference player last year…look for Babel to play a large role this year.

The person:   Mark was born on April 16, 1983 in Montclair, California. ..son of Michael and Patricia Babel…this Lion likes to eat fettuccini…enjoys snow boarding and aggressive walking…favorite color is blue…favorite movie is “The Godfather”…likes to read “Crime and Punishment”…enjoys watching “Seinfeld”…would like to meet David Beckham…feels that this year’s team consists of great attitudes and players…has learned in life that money isn’t everything but it rules the world…soccer has taught him about team unity.
