The athlete: Gustavo comes to the Lions from John Glenn High School…was a First Team All-League three years straight…netted 66 goals in three years…will redshirt this year…is a young forward that has a lot of potential…will be a great asset to this program now and in the future…very fast and quick on his feet…understands the game…will learn a lot about the collegiate game this year…has a very bright future ahead of him.

The person: Gustavo was born on September 10, 1986 in California…proud son of Bertha…has two brothers and two sisters…enjoys eating pizza…favorite TV show is “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”…favorite movie is “Scarface”…hobbies include playing soccer, skateboarding and hanging out with friends…roots for Chivas (Mexico)…likes the number eight…says the biggest problem in the world is violence…learned from life that to appreciate the people who love him…sports has taught him to be responsible and committed…wants to become a Professional Soccer Player.

His thoughts: I selected Vanguard because it’s a Christian university and I like how everyone is building on their relationship with Christ.

Coach Dodge’s comments: Gustavo will be a leader as he develops on and off the field. Other players will begin looking to him as his talent is displayed and his leadership ability grows.
