Shion Jahangiri enters his first season as the Associate Head Coach at Vanguard University, though he enters his eighth year at VU overall in some form of coaching capacity.
Jahangiri previously served as the Goalkeeper coach from 2015-2019. In 2015 under his watch, the Vanguard goalkeepers allowed the fewest goals in the conference, with Brandon Gomez earning an all-GSAC selection. In 2016, Haley Magana was selected as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in addition to being the top keeper in the conference, while Gomez was once again recognized as an all-GSAC player.
Jahangiri currently serves as the Mater Dei Boys Soccer Varsity Associate Head Coach, where he has been since 2018. He also coaches club soccer at the Pateadores. Jahangiri holds a US Soccer "A” license, a UEFA "B" license, and an NSCAA level III goalkeeping diploma.
Jahangiri has been volunteering with USL Championship side Louisville City FC. At Louisville City, he helped the team in training camp and during the season acting as a volunteer assistant coach. He would coordinate with the coaching staff to help solve problems on the field during games. He would also create post game analysis for the coaching staff to review.
Jahangiri graduated from Vanguard University in May 2016 with a degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Sports Studies. While at VU, he played on the men's squad that reached the NAIA Quarterfinals in 2014. He had previously played a redshirt year at UNLV and two seasons at Santiago Canyon College. He also graduated in 2023 with Master's Program at Azusa Pacific University studying Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Management and Leadership.
Jahangiri currently resides in Corona Del Mar with his wife Tatyana, son Bronson, and daughter Brinley.
